Personally the Dude does not own Apple products.
He once had an Ipod (a gift) that ran out of battery life.
The Apple shop informed him the whole unit had to be transported out of Australia ,
(to receive a new battery) and it would cost him around the same price of a new Ipod.
It just all seemed to be geared towards replacing the old stuff with the new stuff (as fast as possible).
All gimmicks and marketing.
The Dude concedes he (Steve Jobs) was probably very creative and he did love technology.
Summary: All this does doesn't matter
Forget about Macs, and touch screens and phones - in the Dudes opinion his real legacy (apart from his family) was this ....
inspirational heart felt 60's speech he gave to university students (see below youtube - and how he finished it with reference to Stewart Brand and Whole of Earth catalog quote).
Great speech Steve (RIP)
"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do...."
