Recently the dude sat back in his favourite corner of his large Queenslander home and switched on the TV. In Australia we have this outstanding public broadcasting station called SBS. On this night they were screening a discussion show called "Insight" and the subject matter was Climate Change. The Dude started listening to this American Climate expert called Stephen Schneider from Stamford. Was impressed with the way he was handling a room full of climate sceptics. As with all discussion on this subject matter it tends to go around in circles, but did get some gems from him. Next morning the dude logged into the net as Schneider had mentioned plenty of material that you can reference. Was saddened to read that 2 weeks after this show he actually died - Great Spirit to this guy. He mentioned youtube a few times on Insight and although I do not know if he meant this particular show below, it is the one that resonated with me best and I hope you enjoy it. RIP Stephen Schneider. Stephen Schneider Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rIy0Srvb1Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sslUup8RENo Schneider references the classic song by Crosby, Stills & Nash "Teach Your Children": You, who are on the road must have a code that you can live by. And so become yourself because the past is just a good bye. Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by, And feed them on your dreams, the one they picked, the one you're known by. Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you you would cry, So just look at them and sigh and know they love you. And you, of the tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by, And so please help them with your years, they seek the truth before they can die. Teach your parents well, their children's hell will slowly go by, And feed them on your dreams, the one they picked, the one you're known by. Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry, So just look at them and sigh and know they love you. |
